Job Description

Job Title: Sales Assistant

Location: Uganda

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY / TASK

1. Order Generation:

  • Generate orders for all products following route guidelines.
  • Maintain healthy stock cover to last the order cycle.
  • Adhere to correct product assortment guidelines per store.
  • Monitor product uptake, manage returns, and follow up on pending orders for delivery.
  • Service all existing outlets as per the route plans.

2. Payment Management:

  • Ensure 100% collection of due receivables in relevant outlets across the assigned territory.
  • Adhere to approved modes of payment and submit cheques to the respective credit department.
  • Facilitate collection of Goods Received Notes (GRNs) on time for processing credit notes.
  • Facilitate issuance of credit notes by ensuring required documentation is available.
  • Follow up with outlets for issuance of remittance advice to facilitate correct payment allocation.

3. Merchandising & Activation:

  • Maintain FEFO (First Expired, First Out) standards across outlets for all categories.
  • Activate counter/till visibility across relevant assigned stores.
  • Adhere to the minimum set On Shelf Availability for all Must Keep SKUs per Channel segmentation.
  • Adhere to set SOS Capacities as per channel segmentation standards.
  • Place and verify updated price tags of all SKUs on the shelf.
  • Maintain cleanliness of products (dusting, freezer-scraping, stock rotation, and shelf replenishment).
  • Maintain quality assurance standards for all products at every store/account.
  • Adhere to merchandising planograms and standards in all outlets.
  • Implement marketing activities (e.g., promotions, communications, stock audit, and price compliance).
  • Coordinate with the delivery executive in the delivery of orders in assigned routes.

4. Account Development:

  • Maintain set freezer (-18°C) and chiller (5°C) temperature and storage standards.
  • Confirm chillers are placed in well-aerated and off-the-ground spaces.
  • Identify and take up opportunities for increasing primary and secondary displays.
  • Identify and communicate new potential customers and business opportunities to Area Sales Team Leaders.
  • Report customer feedback to relevant departments.
  • Participate in Market Impact Team and new store openings.
  • Assist in new product listing in assigned stores.
  • Verify freezers and stands tagging, branding, and working conditions.
  • Report instances of malfunctioning freezers for repair/replacement.
  • Initiate the process of freezer and chocolate stand issuance (replacement, new, and additional) as per outlet needs.
  • Conduct physical verification of freezers and chocolate stand and submit reports.

5. Reporting:

  • Ensure all necessary documents to and from respective outlets have been delivered/collected.
  • Report on outlet payment challenges and closures.
  • Provide daily reports on coverage, achievement/variance on sales targets.
  • Conduct a weekly review of sales performance per outlet and product/category.
  • Monitor competitor products, sales, and marketing activities.

6. Personal Effectiveness:

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and sales tracking software.
  • Willingness to travel within the assigned region as required.

Academic / Professional Background:

  • Diploma in Sales, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.

Work Experience:

  • Proven 2+ years’ experience in sales and account management within the FMCG industry.

Decision-Making Authority:

  • Able to make decisions within established autonomy.
