Job Description

Job Summary:

As a Furniture Designer, you will play a pivotal role in creating designs for furniture and related products, ensuring they align with client preferences and specifications. This role encompasses the preparation and modification of designs, including drawings, design details, specifications, and bills of quantity.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

Design Roles:

  1. Study, research, and plan various styles of furniture design based on market trends.
  2. Design and modify furniture according to customer requirements, sharing completed designs for approval.
  3. Stay abreast of furniture design trends and developments.
  4. Create visual concepts using appropriate tools and technologies.
  5. Complete design projects within specified timelines and budgets.
  6. Ensure in-depth knowledge of the company’s product range, features, and specifications.
  7. Discuss and finalize designs with customers, providing accurate drawings.
  8. Provide accurate production catalysts for new items.
  9. Generate sample designs using CAD or similar programs.
  10. Prepare layouts and quotations based on designs.
  11. Test and enhance existing designs using computer models and prototypes.
  12. Prepare detailed final designs and liaise with the production department for accurate measurements.
  13. Conduct market research to gauge customer reactions and inspire design improvements.

Website Roles:

  1. Collaborate with Admin and Sales support on stock levels and new products.
  2. Update and liaise with the social media team, providing necessary details.
  3. Coordinate with the social media team for photoshoots when necessary.

Design Administration Roles:

  1. Arrange client site visits and ensure accurate measurements are taken.
  2. Update completed project photos and documents in collaboration with the Sales Team.
  3. Update images of new stock as needed.
  4. Provide regular and timely feedback to management.
  5. Oversee showroom arrangements.
  6. Undertake any other duties assigned by management.

Qualifications and Work Experience:

  1. Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in design/administration from a recognized institution.
  2. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Email.
  3. Mastery of foundational design concepts and visual principles.
  4. Minimum 3 years’ work experience in design.
  5. Proficiency in software packages such as ArchiCAD, AutoCAD, Photoshop, or similar.
  6. Knowledge of design programs like Corel or Illustrator is an added advantage.
  7. Proficient with good presentation skills.
