Job Description

Job Summary:
The Finance Director is responsible for providing strategic leadership in business and financial planning, ensuring the company’s goals are met efficiently and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. This role involves developing policies, managing financial operations, and supporting the company’s strategic direction through robust financial management.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Financial Planning: Develop financial policies with the CEO to guide decisions on turnover, costs, profits, and investments.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Contribute to the strategic plan by preparing annual budgets, forecasts, and monthly variance analyses to structure, predict cash flow, allocate resources, and measure performance.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate financial statements to inform business plans and board decisions, providing a comprehensive view of the company’s financial health for stakeholders.
  • Audit Coordination: Liaise with statutory and financial auditors to finalize books of account, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Cash Flow Management: Prepare and review Cash Flow and Fund Flow statements regularly for timely and accurate reporting.
  • Management Information Systems: Generate and analyze monthly and quarterly MIS reports to assess company performance and support decision-making.
  • External Relations: Maintain effective relations with financial institutions, statutory bodies, and other external authorities to avoid operational disruptions.
  • Supplier Payments: Manage payments to foreign and local suppliers, addressing any issues to ensure timely procurement.
  • Asset Management: Maintain an up-to-date Fixed Asset Schedule and conduct periodic physical verifications for capital expenditure decisions.
  • System Reviews: Regularly review financial and accounting systems, policies, and procedures to detect and address potential issues proactively.
  • Compliance: Ensure financial systems comply with statutory provisions, company strategy, departmental objectives, and emerging challenges.
  • Day-to-Day Operations: Supervise daily finance and accounting activities to provide timely information and services to users.
  • Import/Export Monitoring: Ensure accurate documentation and timely processing of imports and exports to avoid payment, shipping, clearing, and delivery delays.
  • Control Systems: Establish and maintain effective control systems for timely and accurate payment of salaries, wages, and statutory dues.
  • IT Coordination: Oversee IT activities to ensure effective networking, backup, and system setup.

Job Specifications:

Qualifications:

  • University degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree in Strategic Management or Business Administration (Finance).
  • Recognized accounting professional qualification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, ACA).
  • At least 7 years of senior finance/accounting management experience in a high-growth environment.

  • Expertise in financial reporting, analytics, budgeting, and strategic planning.
  • High levels of integrity and confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in accounting systems, especially Sage ERP.
  • Strong analytical and judgment skills.
  • Understanding of procurement, import, and export processes.
