Job Description
Department: Logistics
Location: Kampala
Overall Purpose of the Job:
Ensure proper care and efficient utilization of company vehicles for transporting goods, staff, and other materials while maintaining compliance with safety and statutory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Vehicle Management
- Ensure vehicles are roadworthy and compliant with government regulations and company policies.
- Perform minor maintenance and repairs as needed.
- Report breakdowns, maintenance needs, and incidents promptly.
- Maintain accurate mileage and repair records.
- Keep the vehicle clean and well-maintained at all times.
2. Safety
- Adhere to company health and safety standards.
- Deliver goods/services in good condition and within set timelines to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Drive with care and diligence at all times.
3. Execution of Assigned Duties
- Transport staff and goods to and from designated locations as per instructions.
- Ensure proper authorization for goods and services as per company policies.
4. Time Management
- Adhere to the scheduled working hours or as instructed by the supervisor.
- Maintain a detailed travel log of routes, travel time, and work hours.
5. Professionalism
- Interact with colleagues and clients in a respectful and professional manner.
- Address and resolve disputes/issues promptly during work.
- Assist in loading/offloading goods as needed.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
Key Performance Indicators:
- Compliance with statutory and safety requirements.
- Timely and accurate delivery of goods and personnel.
- Avoidance of damages due to poor driving.
- Zero accidents and traffic violations.
- Adherence to fuel efficiency standards.
- Proper grooming and representation of the company.
- Timely reporting of vehicle defects and issues.
Job Requirements:
Key Competencies:
- Strong driving record.
- Basic vehicle maintenance knowledge.
- Efficiency in time management.
- Problem-solving skills.
Academic/Professional Background:
- Mean grade of D+ or above in Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
- Valid BCE driving license with Grade 111 motor mechanic certification.
Work Experience:
- At least 1 year of experience in delivery and logistics handling 3 tonnes and above.
Skills:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Self-motivated with minimal supervision.
- Team-oriented mindset.
