Role: Chief Accountant
Purpose of the Role Responsible for overseeing and optimizing the financial and operational functions of the company. To work closely with the executive team to develop and implement strategies that align with the company’s goals and ensure financial health. Strengthen and grow relationships with Customers. Assist in streamlining and improving the accounting processes. Analyze financial information and prepare financial reports to determine or maintain a record of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liability, or other financial activities within the organization.
Minimum Requirements
  1. Education: Degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. Degree in business-related courses preferably Finance and Accounting.
  2. Relevant Previous Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar position in a commercial organization, preferably in a manufacturing Industry.
  3. Business Understanding: Should understand, 1) IFRS and accounting principles 2) Finance Act 3) Taxation Guidelines 4) Financial Policies and Procedures
  4. Knowledge: Functional Skills: Proven experience as a Leader or similar executive leadership role. Strong financial acumen and analytical skills. Excellent strategic planning and execution abilities. In-depth knowledge of financial regulations, compliance, and Tax. Demonstrated experience in operational efficiency and process optimization. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of IFRS and accounting principles. Cost control Strategies Generic Skills: Understand numbers and analyze them Proficient with MS Office- Word and Excel tools Proficient with any Payroll software Updated with the latest technology Knowledge of SAP and other relevant system

Critical Non-Negotiable Attributes
  1. Minimum 3 years of experience in the Finance department
  2. Worked as an Accountant preferably in a manufacturing setup
  3. Must have worked with an ERP system preferably SAP
Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Strategy and Planning: Develop and execute financial strategies in alignment with the company’s business objectives. Provide financial guidance to the executive team, offering insights and recommendations for decision-making. Drive budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling processes, along with the CFOO.
  • Finance Tasks: Produce accurate, daily Bank reconciliations. Receive cash from customers and ensure that the amounts match with the sales Invoice. Confirm the amounts before putting in the cash box. Reconcile sales daily. Check the quantities visa vis the stock issue records. Check the prices for the sales in the system are approved. Posting AP Reserve Invoices.
  • Financial Management: Manage financial reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations. Oversee cash flow, working capital, and financial risk management. Monitor financial performance and implement corrective actions when necessary.
  • Operational Efficiency: Monitor key performance indicators (OKRs) to track financial success.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate financial risks. Implement internal controls to safeguard company assets. Stay informed about industry trends and regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and develop a high-performing finance team. Foster a collaborative and results-driven culture within the department.
Typical Tasks (Indicative but not exhaustive)

  • Receiving and posting Cash, Cheques, and Transfers against respective Customer and Invoice.
  • Sending Customer statements and following for payments.
  • Maintain healthy and mutual relations with Customers.
  • Reconciling bank statements for all incoming and outgoing payments daily.
  • Budget monitoring with CFOO.
  • Cost accounting and monitoring trends in Costs.
  • BOM Audits.
  • Cashflow planning and reporting.
  • Other tasks as may be assigned by the CFOO.
