Location: Mombasa, Kenya
Job Description:
Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Assistant Accountant will play a vital role in supporting the accounting functions of the company. The successful candidate will be responsible for handling various aspects of financial transactions, month-end procedures, and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Manage accounts payable and receivable processes efficiently.
- Assist in the month-end closing activities.
- Analyze and reconcile petty cash, customer, and supplier ledgers.
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of debtor and creditor ledgers and account records.
- Prepare payment requisitions for suppliers.
- Generate journal vouchers accurately.
- Assist in organizing debt collection activities and manage customer credit limits.
- Ensure timely preparation and submission of statutory returns, including VAT.
- Assist in developing schedules, procedures, and systems to streamline workflow.
- Maintain accurate and organized accounting records.
- Adhere to internal control processes and procedures.
- Support auditors during the annual audit process.
- Review costs and identify opportunities for cost reduction.
- Conduct internal system reviews, identify control weaknesses, and recommend improvements to management.
Requirements:
- ACCA or CPA affiliate or member.
- Experience with an ERP system, preferably SAP Business One.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
- Highly organized with keen attention to detail.
- Self-driven, adaptable, and capable of working independently or as part of a team.
